WHAT'S FOR DINNER: Easy koftas, stir fry recipes, butchery competition, kids in the kitchen

This week on What’s For Dinner? we have quick recipes for busy people, like easy lamb koftas in 20 minutes and, a collection of stir-fry recipes. Watch an exciting butchery competition next Tuesday and learn how to teach your kids cooking skills and why that’s so important.

A fun, nutritious meal in 20 minutes

This easy and delicious lamb kofta recipe makes ten skewers. As a family meal, or part of a barbecue selection, they are quick to prepare and great on their own or served in pita bread with your favourite sauce. This mixture can also be used to make tasty burgers.

Cooking tip: You can use either beef or lamb mince for these koftas.

Happy Stir-Friday!

It's a busy time for many of us and the last thing we need is to spend hours in the kitchen preparing dinner. This Friday night, cook up a quick and easy stir fry instead and sizzle your way into the weekend.

New Zealand's biggest butchery competition

Next Tuesday, butchers from across the country will step onto the competition stage to battle for the title of New Zealand's top butcher in three different categories. You can watch all the action in a live stream with a running commentary from 5:45pm on November 10 on Retail Meat New Zealand's website.

Best of luck to all the contestants of the Alto Young Butcher, ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice & Pure South Master Butcher of the Year!

How to get your kids in the kitchen

It is difficult to overstate the importance of getting the kids into the kitchen, and the earlier you can do it, the better. We know it can be hard to find the time and patience but teaching your children how to cook is time well-spent. It offers a myriad of benefits including boosting confidence, teaching maths and science, time for bonding, and educating kids about the importance of eating right.
